25th May 2008 Windsurfing: Ynyslas Estuary Wind Direction: NE Wind Stength: 30-35 knots Surf / Sea State: Choppy Air Temperature: 12ºC Sea Temperature: 12ºC Weather: Cloudy Max Speed: 28.1 (knots - unless stated otherwise) Distance Covered: Ivor delivered the goods again! Didn't look too promising at first as the wind eased off around 6 am and was really gusty first thing in the morning but the wind filled in around 10am so I went out with my 5.6m and the S-Type. Had a nice blast on that but the wind continued to increase and soon it became quite a handful and then far too much so I changed down to my 5m and Naish. Should really have rigged the 4.5m as even that was a little too much now and I did contemplate changing down again and getting my little wave board too, but held onto the bigger kit. Quite a few other people were out too (10 windsurfers at one point), mainly on 4-4.5m sails and all were well powered. The wind then went mad later in the afternoon with gusts to 50 knots and probably a bit more. Glad I went out when I did and I'll make sure I take my 4m and little board with me tomorrow. |
